Reporting to the Director of Events & Engagements, this position is critical to the launch and implementation of CEE’s convening’s schedule, membership recruitment, networking and other related assigned tasks as needed. CEE is a membership organization, comprising a range of business support organizations, ecosystem supporters/funders, and small business owners. Title: Part-time Events & Engagement Coordinator (Consultant)

Reports to: Executive Director with dotted line to Executive Administrative Assistant

Location: Remote

Salary: $30/hour up to 20 hours/week (schedule is Monday-Friday and some weekends as needed

Start Date: Fall 2024

Organizational Summary 

The Coalition for an Equitable Economy (CEE) is an action-oriented, dedicated collection of cross-sector Massachusetts organizations and individuals who are deeply committed to building an equitable small business ecosystem. Created in 2020, the Coalition’s efforts have focused on closing the racial wealth gap through supporting the small business owners and entrepreneurs in the state, and actively working to remove barriers to their growth and success. 

What You’ll Do

Reporting to the Director of Events & Engagements, this position is critical to the launch and implementation of CEE’s convening’s schedule, membership recruitment,  networking and other related assigned tasks as needed. CEE is a membership organization, comprising a range of business support organizations, ecosystem supporters/funders, and small business owners. The Events & Engagements Coordinator will work directly with a range of stakeholders including occasionally serving as the primary point of contact for external vendors and potential partners.

This job operates primarily remote. This role requires access to a computer and phone. On occasion, the job will require going out to events or organizations based on the needs of the organization. Must have consistent means of transportation if needed. Travel will be required as needed and agreed to in advance (e.g., to a conference or event).

Project & Initiative Support

  • Support project plans related to the launch and implementation of CEE’s:
    • Convenings schedule – The schedule of planned events with distinct purposes and audiences
    • Membership recruitment – Attracting new individuals/organizations to become members of CEE 
    • Networking – Meeting with various individuals and organizations that can help build the small business ecosystem 
  • Support other related tasks as needed
    • Support  plans to disseminate educational materials to the small business ecosystem in collaboration with the Director of Events & Engagements and Executive Director.
  • Sub-Committee Assistance
    • Liaise with CEE Sub-Committees (Policy, Business Support Organizations, Capital Access, and Procurement) on various initiatives.
    • Provide coordination, communication, project management, and deliverable creation support.

Administrative Support

  • Assist the Director of Events & Engagements as needed in administrative tasks and other duties critical to the success of CEE’s events and engagement strategies.
  • Providing support for marketing initiatives, including assisting with the distribution and tracking of external communications, monitoring and maintaining (in a supporting role), and participating in marketing strategy meetings, as it relates to the Membership portal
  • Assisting in fundraising efforts, such as grant writing and reporting (in a secondary capacity)

What You’ll Need 

Education & Experience:

  • Associate’s degree 
  • 2+ years of experience in event coordination, project management, or a similar role, preferably in a non-profit, community-focused, or small business environment.
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including community organizations, vendors, and business partners

Skills & Competencies:

  • Project Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in crafting clear and concise messages for different audiences.
  • Relationship Management: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and partners.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to anticipate issues, identify solutions, and implement plans to address challenges.
  • Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail, particularly in managing event logistics, coordinating tasks, and creating deliverables.
  • Technology Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello) and event management software.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed for events or deadlines.
