BECMA relies on the lived experiences of our Members and Programs team, the best available quantitative and qualitative data, a policy rubric, and alignment with BECMA’s mission and pillars to identify policy positions and legislation to support.
In early 2024, BECMA was able to advocate directly to Governor Healey’s Administration about how to implement equity and racial equity in the economic development bond bill and in other capital investments and policy provisions. Download BECMA’s Equity Framework here.
We look forward to hearing from the community and key stakeholders as we update the Policy & Legislative Agenda for the 2025-2026 legislative session.

We want to from you!
The Policy Team would like to hear stories, wins, and challenges, so we can uplift your experiences directly to legislators and government officials.
We are open to providing advocacy for members on a case by case basis.
If you support specific pieces of legislation and/or plan to testify, let us know and we can potentially support you and the legislation.
If you have feedback for the BECMA Policy Team, contact us at policy@becma.org
Boards & Commisions
One of BECMA’s four pillars is to place local residents in decision-making roles on federal, state and local boards and commissions to exert influence on how resources are deployed to communities.
All placed members will be offered board training to ensure knowledge of board best practices.
If you are interested in being placed on a board or commission OR if you have an open board or commission seat and seek a recommendation from BECMA, please email policy@becma.org.
